Washington, DC | 9,000 sf
Susan G. Komen is the boldest community fueling the best science and making the biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. Their 9,000 sf DC headquarters features fourteen different light fixtures installed in five different ceiling configurations. The relatively small size of this project compared to the variables for lighting system installation presented a unique challenge in each room.
A detailed and collaborative effort was required in order to coordinate the trim type, finish condition, spatial and aesthetic requirements confronted for each fixture type in the various ceiling types. The project architect, owner, general contractor, drywall, glass, electrical and specific lighting consultants worked together sharing opinions and specific requirements to produce an elegant product. The intricate details of this project presented numerous challenges.
Through the coordination amongst project team members and a shared commitment to providing the highest quality finished product, the Susan G. Komen office space shows beautifully without eluding to the truly challenging nature of its construction. The project is LEED Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
