rand* completed the 4-story tenant build out for Bozzuto’s new corporate headquarters at the Capital Office Park in Greenbelt, MD. The scope of work included open workstations and closed offices, conference space, reception, employee breakrooms, common areas and other support spaces. One of the major elements in the scope of work was the four-story interconnecting feature stair, which required meticulous coordination and exceptional craftsmanship during the fabrication and install. Even more, it required incredible patience on behalf of the craftsmen who executed the work.

The four-story interconnecting feature stair with 3 flights between floors was constructed with load bearing stringers to provide the illusion of a floating staircase with floating landings. The open design uses a combination of glass and stainless steel post handrails with integrated LED strip fixtures to illuminate the treads. The entire stair is accented with hanging light fixtures that extend from the 7th floor ceiling to the 4th floor open area at random lengths in the center of the opening.
