Low floor-to-floor heights and the need for new mechanical, lighting, and ceiling systems were the challenges faced by rand* construction corporation in transforming government offices into light-filled learning and gathering spaces. Large exterior windows capture natural daylight, and the design team and rand* laid out the open plenum ceiling to maximize height and light to create a positive learning environment.
A tight schedule and an aggressive budget were both met by the design and build teams, who worked closely together to realize the project design goals. Rand* worked closely with several subcontractors and manufacturers to pre-release long lead items and materials to meet the very tight schedule. Such collaboration is a hallmark of rand* projects, and the result in this case was enhanced aesthetics and efficiency.
