Freshfields Bruckhaus & Deringer LLP chose to move their DC presence into a tenant space with a sleek and modern look. Their new offices occupy the full 10th and partial 9th floor and were delivered in a phased schedule. The scope of work consisted of a reception area, lunchroom, conference center, pantry areas, attorney offices, a bathroom and other support space. The firm wanted to bring daylight into the space to and create a feeling of connection between all areas. The glass and glazing scope of this project became the main element to achieve these design objectives.

The office system fronts and conference room glass partitions are custom sized, Italian Adotta systems with custom “Freshfields Blue” tinted glass. This Adotta system required the finished opening of the office fronts to be exact within an 1/8”, effectively no tolerance. Extensive care was taken to coordinate the floor leveling, flooring, millwork & drywall finishes to ensure an exact construction in every single office and conference room. Separating the conference rooms are double glazed, custom tinted glass panels laminated with an inner metal mesh layer. Each component of this glass system had to be ordered months before the openings were actually ready, requiring, again, extensive coordination across all trades.
