Located in the heart of the central business district of Washington, DC, Berkeley Research Group built their new downtown office with longevity in mind both in the terms of expansion and sustainability. Throughout the project the team track LEED Silver certification, but due to the team’s extensive knowledge and dedication, the project was able to achieve LEED Gold certification.


  • Installed water fixtures boosted a 36% water savings
  • 30 Chilled Beam units were integrated into the base building’s energy management system
  • 100% of new equipment and appliances are Energy Star rated
  • Sustainable Materials:
    • 76% of materials were regionally manufactured and over 40% of material components were regionally extracted gaining an extra construction credit under exemplary performance
    • Over 70% of the new wood, both in construction materials and furniture, was FSC certified
