rand* completed the corporate consolidation of the POLITICO Headquarters – corporate office and conference space, broadcast studios, data centers and administrative centers – over a 6 month schedule, which was exceptionally complicated from day one due to the complications found in the existing space on the 8th and 9th floors of the building. rand* brought on mechanical and electrical subcontractors immediately to begin implementing necessary systems upgrades onsite, meanwhile dealing with the preconstruction and procurement of several custom design and functionality elements to be delivered in the space. The ribbon ceiling extending across the entire 8th floor and up through the 9th floor, for example, required extensive framing and due diligence on site.
rand* additionally delivered 40,000 sf of 1.6” raised access flooring, and 5” and 12” raised flooring in the data center and studio work areas, as well as reclaimed wood flooring, back painted glass, fabric wall panels, and paint. rand*’s mitigation of several challenges associated with this type of work was mitigated through the strong partnership developed between the rand* team, the design team, and the client. POLITICO stated, in closing, that “rand*’s tireless devotion to our project made this a huge success… rand* took away most of the worrying so we could focus on preparing for the big staff move. We could not be happier!”
