EDF’s new office space in Downtown DC is a 24,000-square foot interior buildout delivered on a 24-week schedule. The design features extensive lighting controls and seamless HVAC integration, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functional performance. A standout element of the space is a 2,000-square-foot conference room equipped with an operable partition, allowing for flexible configurations to accommodate various meeting and event needs.
A key challenge of the project was the installation of an HVAC unit that required separate permitting, demanding precise coordination among multiple trades to align with the overall construction schedule. Additionally, the project showcases a curved millwork banquette with integrated planters, elegantly wrapping the base building’s atrium glass to create a striking architectural feature that blends functionality with biophilic design.
The success of the project was driven by strong internal communication, a highly engaged senior staff and superintendent team, and a collaborative problem-solving approach. Through detailed planning and execution, the team delivered a high-end interior environment that seamlessly blends innovation, aesthetics, and performance.
