The 1919 N Lynn Lobby is located in a 24-story corporate office building serving approximately 3,000 employees daily. The lobby renovation re-imagined the arrival experience through a sophisticated dialogue between modernist discipline and expressive, kinetic forms.
The design introduces a minimalist aesthetic defined by symmetry, sweeping curves, and sculptural elements. A new undulating wood wall creates a rhythmic focal point, while varied-height light fixtures form a constellation of abstract lanterns. Curved details extend throughout the space, including the reception desk, columns, ceiling, and wood wall. The reception desk features a natural stone surface shaped through heated thermoforming, complemented by dark metal accents, large-format tile, and a felt wood-inspired ceiling.
Project execution required coordination within an active, high-traffic building. The team maintained tenant access and building operations throughout construction using a phased schedule and temporary pathways. Extensive scaffolding was required for high-ceiling work, demanding rigorous safety measures and careful material handling above occupied areas.
Security requirements from the anchor tenant were integrated into the redesigned lobby through a discreet entry point, while the team worked closely with the building and permitting authorities to balance security protocols with egress requirements. Existing materials were salvaged and reused where possible, and new tile was installed over existing flooring in select areas to minimize demolition.
