Global design consultancy frog design contracted rand* construction to provide construction services for their new office in the South Congress neighborhood of Austin, Texas. The modern layout of the studio – outfitted with amenities such as a custom cafe and bar – provides a warm welcome for visitors. Venetian plaster-clad walls and ceilings frame public spaces, showcasing them as central gathering places and visual focal points; modern, blackened steel windows are a special feature of the overall design. Flowing into the maker space is a library that provides a private space for teams to engage in quiet collaboration. The office prioritizes staff health, with a generously sized bike storage room, shower rooms, and a multi-functional wellness room that serves as a mother’s room.
rand* worked collaboratively with all parties to ensure the high-end design was maintained. rand* managed the highly coordinated overhead ceiling that was at a 30-degree angle with angled walls and parallel MEP infrastructure. The project team overcame challenges coordinating the above floor penetration to align with angled walls and MEP products in an open-concept ceiling. The team seamlessly handled the fine line raco product, coordinating with mullions throughout to reach largest design while maintaining structural integrity
