rand* construction completed a full interior fit-out for The Chicago School in Washington, DC. This comprehensive renovation included flexible learning spaces, a kitchen and café, collaboration areas, renovated restrooms, and full MEP upgrades. The project emphasized student well-being, creating a high-performing environment tailored to modern educational needs.
A standout feature is the striking copper-toned ornamental stair, which required extensive coordination and approval from the Structural Engineer of Record due to its unique design within a post-tension slab and hung from tensioned rods with no shoring. High-end finishes include Obeche wood doors and terrazzo millwork countertops, while extensive brand integration reinforced the school’s identity.
The project team worked closely with the out-of-state architect to navigate local jurisdictional requirements, coordinate vendors, and proactively manage material tracking to meet the fast-paced schedule. rand* construction also managed the AV/IT/low-voltage scope, which featured a robust technology package.
