iHeartMedia is a valued client of rand* with our teams delivering over a dozen podcast studios across the nations including a feature studio located at The Works. The studio hub for iHeartMedia in the heart of Atlanta houses a multitude of podcast rooms and assembly spaces to service productions of all sizes. The program of the space called for 23 sound-resistant live radio studios, a live music performance studio, 4 combination podcast rooms with production suites, private offices, and conference/huddle spaces throughout the floorplate. The project was delivered in two phases with an initial footprint of 10,000 square feet and an additional 9,000 square foot expansion built out a year later.

The new studio is an interior fitout in a first generation space which required extensive coordination with the base building commissioning dates to tie-in the tenant infrastructure. The nature of the project made dedicated preconstruction meetings with the owner vendors critical to ensure proper integration of the space’s special systems, most notably the furniture, audio/visual, and low voltage vendor packages. This help to clearly establish turnover requirements and hard dates for vendor milestones. A generator was installed to provide the studio with back-up power for uninterrupted broadcasting capabilities.
