The Ned

The newly completed Ned’s Club DC is a luxurious and innovative private members’ club that combines timeless elegance with modern sophistication. From its grand entrance to its meticulously designed spaces, Ned’s Club embodies the perfect fusion of classic design elements with contemporary flair. The project involved the transformation of a 60,000 square foot space across four floors, including three fully functional kitchens. The project was set in a historic building that combined two separate structures into one cohesive space. The design process was complex, with two New York-based design teams collaborating closely.

The project began before the base building work was complete, with three contractors working in the space. Four months of preconstruction and more than 20 pricing iterations led to a year and a half of collaborative construction, including 17 miles of millwork trim. Each of the rooms in the space was uniquely designed, making no two rooms alike, and requiring custom solutions for every area, delivering a unique and functional space.

Drawing inspiration from both historical and modern influences, the design features rich, natural materials such as marble, walnut, and polished brass, with plush velvet seating and intricately patterned rugs. One of the standout features of Ned’s Club is its rooftop terrace, offering stunning panoramic views of downtown DC.

This open-air space is the perfect spot for both casual gatherings and more formal events, with lush landscaping, comfortable seating, and a serene ambiance. This project exemplifies excellence in overcoming complexity, adapting to change, and working collaboratively to achieve a successful outcome. The success of the project was driven by the team’s efforts and the strong relationships built within the project community.
