Gensler (Austin Office)

Gensler had a need to establish a new office space in the SoCo District. The project was a first generation space spanning two floors within the newly constructed Music Lane office building complex. Gensler contracted rand* to provide preconstruction and construction services. This project marks the third office buildout for Gensler rand* has performed on a national scale. The extended preconstruction period was vital to ensure the delivery schedule by developing a pre-release package for critical materials and on-boarding critical subcontractors to participate in preconstruction constructability reviews and aid in material selection. The open design supported by the exposed finishes including the bare brick of the building envelope makes the user experience more striking due to the natural light flowing throughout the space. The office environment is made up of a new reception area, elevator lobbies, open offices around the perimeter, work cafe, adaptable conference rooms by use of an operable partition, breakout space, and huddle rooms. The design is highlighted by materiality, promoting a tactile sensation. The two floors are showcased by an interconnecting sculptural stair that floats within the environment. The single stringer staircase is suspended from the ceiling by steel rods with a single slab connection point at the upper floor landing.
